“Bearing” was the winner of a competition to produce a roadside landmark located adjacent to Bear Creek Park, in Surrey, Canada. As a commentary on suburban navigation, “Bearing” consists of 18 cobra street lamps placed according to the constellation of Ursa Major (The Great Bear). The bouquet of lights were to stand in an existing grove of ornamental cherry trees.
