Savage Parade

This dance piece was set inside an old fire hall. It took place simultaneously in two spaces, one located above the other. The set design linked the spaces by using the original fire pole holes as connectors; one hole was filled with a translucent parchment chute and the other was fitted with a ladder. The dancers used these configurations to move between spaces and to move objects up and down. A giant sandbox on the lower level was matched by a small one upstairs, challenging notions of scale and time. The audience watched the dance twice; once from the space above and once from below.
