Capilano View Memorial Forest

This project was designed to replace the existing vehicular entry to the cemetery. Components included an open-air gathering pavilion, scattering areas for the ashes of up to 3,000 remains, memorial walls, a small water feature, and a new invention — birdhouses designed to hold ashes (columbary meets columbarium). The roofs of these structures referenced ideas of shelter and weightlessness.

Phase two of the project intended forest bamboo plantings and a meditation garden with interment space for ashes.
