Granville Street Redesign

Pechet and Robb Art and Architecture worked with PWL Partnership, Landscape Architecture to redesign 10 blocks of downtown Vancouver .We participated in all levels of the urban design including conceptualizing custom fixtures for lighting, site furnishings, bike racks and sidewalk infrastructure. Our benches and chairs are positioned to encourage the simultaneous creation of miniature social spaces along the street, while simultaneously allowing for individuals to find their own kind of respite.

Our suite of lighting elements were intended to rekindle the long lasting reputation of Granville as ‘the great white way’; as Vancouver’s epicenter of entertainment. (see our next section on this website which chiefly presents these lights)

Also, we designed a special events infrastructure which can be used for festival use, impromptu street parties, art installations and performance.
