This giant human-scaled nest was a shortlisted proposal for the new City Hall Plaza in Richmond, BC, Canada.”Mama” referenced the fact that Richmond is home to millions of birds that migrate along the Pacific Flyway, as do human beings via the Vancouver International Airport located in Richmond. “Mama” was to be fabricated of “scavenged” building materials from the City Hall. Railings, for example, becoming the grass-like edge to the nest, and two bent street lights providing a protective eye to those nestled below.
