Robson Public

The location is Robson Street, one of Canada’s most popular shopping venues. This study examined how to create eddies of public space with the expansion of sidewalks and the closure of a small street. Our studio developed a number of scenarios with the participation of business owners and city representatives. A new language of lighting, walking surfaces, and seating elements emerged from the plan. The most important idea in this project is to develop spaces which allow for flexibility and different scales of social interaction.
