Located in North Vancouver, BC, this project is part of a larger redevelopment called “The Pier” (see this website for details).
This plaza is a large, slightly sloping, multi-function space used for concerts, festivals and markets. It is flanked by a stage and canopy on one side, and a reconstituted rolling crane on the other. The massive steel plate structure of the canopy is outfitted to hold lighting and other electrical infrastructure. Its form is inspired by the peeling back of a ship’s hull. The crane provides a landmark for the city of North Vancouver and functions to hold a variety of lighting used in the plaza.
Pechet and Robb art and architecture created the concept and design drawings for this project. Durante Kreuk Landscape Architects produced the working drawings and provided project coordination.
